Auditors ask “what was this payment for?”, and the best answer is the invoice sitting right on the transaction. Breezing lets you attach evidence files to any transaction and, if you use Xero, push them onto the synced journal entry itself.
Uploading an Attachment
- Open a transaction from your Dashboard.
- Find the attachment area in the transaction details and click Attach Invoice, or drop a file straight onto it.
- Supported files are PDF, PNG, and JPG, up to 25 MB, one file per upload.
- Review the selected file, then click Upload & Save. A progress bar tracks the upload.
Uploaded files appear in the Attachments card on the transaction with their upload time. You can attach multiple files to the same transaction by repeating the process.
Viewing Attachments
Click View next to any attachment to open it in a new tab. Attachments are private to your company; download links are generated on demand and expire after a few minutes, so files cannot be shared through permanent URLs.
Pushing Attachments to Xero Journals
If the transaction has been synced to Xero, each attachment shows an Attach to Journal button. Clicking it uploads the file to the matching manual journal in Xero, so the evidence lives in your accounting system too. Once pushed, the button becomes an Attached to Journal badge.
This is currently a Xero-only feature; QuickBooks and Bexio journals do not receive attachments.
Where This Fits
- During categorization, attach the invoice or contract that explains the transaction while the context is fresh.
- During client review, clients can attach the documents you are missing.
- At period close, balance attestations accept their own evidence files, so between the two, both your balances and your individual transactions carry proof.
